Silver Dollar

I've got a worn out silver dollar
rolling through the fingers of my right hand
it's the same old silver dollar
that my great grandma had
and it's scarred and scratched
on it's face and back
from all the times that it's hit the ground
it's tumbled round
been hit by every truck in town

I got a letter in the mailbox
from the Bank of the American dream
It seem their bailout has gone missing
there is nothing left for me
Another scar I'll wear
on my face and hands
All of the times that I've hit the ground
Have worn me down
I've been hit by every truck in town

But I know
That right there in my pocket
is a beaten, battered, worn silver dollar
It's worth more now than the day
it was shiny and new
And I think
These times when it seems it's all over
It's just time to take a ride in God's pocket
resting up
till he winds me up
to stroll through the fingers of His right hand

I saw a picture in the mirror
and I didn't recognize my own skin
like my worn out silver dollar
the time I lost it in the snow till spring
but I wiped it off
with my pocket cloth
and I took that dollar for a ride
I got the job
after a year of searching all around town

(repeat first Chorus or consider...)
And I think
when it seems it's all over
It's just time to take a ride in God's pocket
resting up until he winds
me up again
And I know
I'm there in his pocket
A beaten, battered, worn silver dollar
and I'm worth more now than the day
I was shiny and new

and I'm down on my knees
to give thanks
that He'll roll me through his hand
again
I know I'm not alone

I am
right there in his pocket
like a beaten, battered, worn silver dollar
worth more now than the day
I was shiny and new
And I think
these time when it seems it's all over
It's just time to take a ride in God's pocket
resting up until he winds
me up again
And I know
I'm right there in his pocket
I'm a beaten, battered, worn silver dollar
I'm worth more now than the day
I was shiny and new
And so are you
